A working visit to South Africa was paid by the delegation of the Council of the Federation headed by HE Senator Vadim Tyulpanov, Chairman of the Committee on the House Rules and Parliamentary Performance Management and leader of the “Friendship Group of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation with the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa”. Other members of the delegation included Sen. Oleg Kazakovtsev, member of the Committee on Budget and Financial Markets and Sen. Vladimir Poletaev, member of the Committee on the House Rules and Parliamentary Performance Management.

On November 25, 2015 members of the delegation met with Hon Thandi Modise, MP, Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Ms MC Dikgale, MP House Chairperson of the NCOP for International Relations and Cooperation, Mr AJ Nyambi, MP House Chairperson of the NCOP for Committees and other MPs. The talks covered a wide range of topics from the development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, trade and investment to major issues on the international agenda. The parties noted common approaches and mutual understanding between the two countries.

During their stay in South Africa, the members of the delegation visited Simon’s Town where they laid flowers at the monument to Russian sailors at the city cemetery.
